Site security that changes as your build does

A construction site changes every few weeks, and its risks change with it, so we plan cover around your programme and alter it as the build moves on.

What is usually at risk

  • Plant, fuel, tools and cable
  • Materials delivered ahead of use
  • Finished work, such as installed copper, boilers and kitchens
  • Unauthorised entry, including people who could be hurt on site

What the plan can include

  • Security officers out of hours, or at the gate during the day
  • Mobile patrols for lower-risk phases
  • CCTV covering gates, compounds and stores
  • Delivery and visitor logs
  • Locking and unlocking of gates
  • Key holding for site cabins and compounds

Working with your site team

Officers work within your site rules. That means completing your induction, wearing the PPE you require, following your traffic and gate procedures, and reporting to your site manager. Incidents are reported in a form you can drop into your own records.

What you receive

  • A survey of the site against your programme
  • A written plan and price, with review points set against your programme
  • Site instructions, agreed with your site manager
  • Logs and incident reports
  • A named contact

Licensing

Guarding a site under contract is licensable, whatever the work is called. Someone supplied to watch a gate or compound for security reasons needs a front line SIA licence, and we use only people who hold it.

Common questions

Should security be planned before the site is set up?

It helps. Hoardings, gates and welfare units all affect what security is needed, so tell us the start date as early as you can.

What if the programme changes?

It usually does. The plan includes review points, so cover can go up or down.
